Procedure in Detail:
The patient was brought to the procedure room and identified by name and date of birth. Written informed consent was obtained. 1% lidocaine with 1:100,000 epinephrine was injected into bilateral ear lobes. The ear lobes were prepped and draped. The skin lining the torn lobe was excised both anteriorly and posteriorly. The anterior aspect of the gauged ear lobe was truncated about 5mm from the attachment to the face. The posterior limb of the gauged ear lobe was rotated anteriorly, excess skin and soft tissue was excised, and the posterior limb of the gauged ear lobe was attached to the stump from the anterior limb and the inferior aspect of the auricle. Deep 5-0 chromic suture was placed to reapproximate the edges of the torn ear lobe. Interrupted 5-0 chromic placed to reapproximate the skin both anteriorly and posteriorly. The same procedure was repeated for the other side.
