He is one of four Fellowship Directors in Texas with the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a Fellow of the Triological Society, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Academy of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery, and the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Barrera has been selected to be Co-Chair of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery International Advances in Rhinoplasty Meeting in Miami, FL in 2020.
He is also a Board Examination Item Writer for the American Board of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery, and an Oral and Written Board Examiner with the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and a member of the Emerging Trends and Technology Committee for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
