Asian Rhinoplasty San Antonio | Ethnic Rhinoplasty

Asian Rhinoplasty is a form of ethnic rhinoplasty performed to improve symmetry and augment the nose. Considering that the Asian face has a different aesthetic form and appeal in contemporary society, asian nose jobs are performed to improve the frontal and profile views of the nose. Asian noses often lack projection due to a lack of cartilage in the septum and dorsum of the nose. Using cartilage grafting from either costal or rib cartilage or auricular (ear) cartilage, the nose can be projected in lacking areas such as the glabella (between the eyes) and dorsum of the nose. Tip symmetry can be further obtained through aligning the domes of the nasal tip (alar cartilages). Asian rhinoplasty is popular all over the world. Recent popularity in alloplastic implants made of synthetic materials such as silicone or gore-tex has led to an increased extrusion rate of these implants in Korea and China. San Antonio Plastic Surgeon Dr. Jose Barrera, MD only uses cartilage obtained from the patient or a donor to augment the nose. Our approach provides natural integration of our cartilage grafts which both enhances the nose and provides long lasting results. Although artificial silicone implants may be used in Asian Rhinoplasty augmentation, rib or costal cartilage grafting can be shaped to provide a lasting nose job augmentation in Asian rhinoplasty and Ethnic rhinoplasty surgery.

Asian rhinoplasty cost takes into account the rhinoplasty surgery, need for additional grafting sites such as the rib (costal cartilage), ear (auricular cartilage), anesthesia, and facility fees. Most asian rhinoplasty surgeries are performed for cosmetic purposes and will not be covered by insurance. If a patient has had a previous surgery and a revision rhinoplasty must take place, cartilage grafting is preferred. More so, an alloplastic or synthetic implant can be removed at the time of revision rhinoplasty followed by costal cartilage grafting. For best results, it is recommended that a revision not take place within six months of the primary or first rhinoplasty surgery. A consultation with a facial plastic surgeon should be considered.
